How to install IsoFoil: A reflective insulation solution

The IsoFoil range is a selection of highly reflective thermal insulation membranes, ideally suited for applications in all construction sectors, including residential, commercial and industrial roofs. When correctly installed, IsoFoil can reduce indoor temperatures by 10% in summer, and increase indoor temperatures by 5% in winter. This reduces the need for cooling and heating devices, contributing to the overall energy efficiency of the building.

How to install IsoFoil

Residential and commercial installation

  1. Unroll the IsoFoil rolls horizontally across the rafters, starting at the eaves and working up towards the ridge.
  2. To ensure complete cover and a good seal, each layer should overlap the previous one by 150mm. Fix the membrane to the rafter with corrosion resistant staples. The battens should be fixed to the rafters over the membrane as soon as possible to prevent wind damage.
  3. For optimum reflective performance, ensure that an airgap between the foil and the roof cover of at least 50mm is maintained.
  4. Install the roof cover material as soon as possible to minimise outdoor exposure.

Industrial installation

  1. Fix PVC-coated strainer wires from the ridge or apex purlin over all following purlins, right down the eave purlins, at 300mm-600mm centres.
  2. Unroll IsoFoil rolls vertically, starting at the ridge. Lay the IsoFoil on top of the straining wires towards the eaves, then straighten out and pull taut.
  3. To ensure complete cover and a good seal, each layer should overlap the previous one by 150mm. All overlaps should be supported by a straining wire.
  4. Install the roof cover material as soon as possible to minimise outdoor exposure.
