Brits works towards environmental sustainability with recycled plastic

With 8 million tons of plastic being dumped into our oceans each year, we recognise the vital importance of corporate responsibility when it comes to looking after our environment. We are committed to upholding stringent standards of environmental sustainability, and spend a lot of time and effort to reduce our impact on our globe’s ecosystems.

To this end, we use recycled fibre made from PET bottles, such as those used for water or soft drinks, to create the vast majority of our thermal insulation products. On average, we use 90 tons of this recycled fibre every month – and with around 30 000 PET bottles going into the production of one ton of recycled fibre, this means we stop 2.7 million plastic bottles ending up in the ocean, landfills or incinerators every month.

We also make use of 115 tons of recycled textile products every month, including garments, fibres, yarn, waste items and household textiles. Most of this material ends up in our underfelt, blankets, felts, mattress pads and automotive products. Using an average garment mass of 700g, we reuse 165 000 individual garments each month.

Beyond our extensive recycling practices, we follow a stringent and exacting Environmental Management System, observing environmental protection measures to minimise our impact on our surroundings.

We believe that, if we all do our best to recycle, reuse, and avoid waste and pollution, we can make a difference. As specialist nonwoven leaders, we know that it is our duty to provide an example of what can be achieved.
